Top Performing Unleveraged ETFs Last Week
These were last week’s top performing ETFs. We’ve excluded funds which use leverage or make inverse bets on their underlying assets.
Shocking no one in the lead up to Election Day, this past week was dominated by VIX volatility funds. Topping the chart was (VXX ), the iPath Series B S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN, followed closely by the ProShares VIX Short-Term Futures ETF, (VIXY ). As colder temps start hitting, it’s also unsurprising to see three natural gas funds make the list as well. (UNG ), the United States Natural Gas Fund, tops the triad with (GAZ ) and (UNL ) rounding out the bottom spots.
An interesting addition to the mix is the Global X MSCI Nigeria ETF (NGE ). It’s a relatively small fund with under $50 million in assets, however it is the only play for Nigeria as a single-country fund. While it hasn’t had the best YTD, NGE boasted a banner month.
